My mission trip to Romania is an experience that I will always cherish. Throughout the week, our team had the opportunity to provide medical and dental care to 285 patients. While we came to serve through healthcare, the people we met ended up impacting me just as much as I hope we impacted them.
One of the most meaningful parts of the trip was getting to know the Romanian people. Even though we didn't speak the same language, their kindness, gratitude, and warmth were easy to understand. I learned that a smile, a helping hand, and genuine compassion can communicate more than words ever could.
This trip also stretched me personally. I learned how to take patients' vital signs and gained confidence interacting with people in a clinical setting. At first, I wasn't sure how I would connect with patients without speaking their language, but I quickly discovered that patience, empathy, and simple gestures could bridge that gap.
Serving alongside 11 other team members was another incredible part of the experience. Watching God bring together people with different gifts and personalities to care for others was something I'll never forget. It was amazing to see how He worked through each of us to share the love of Jesus, not only through the medical and dental care we provided, but through every conversation, every smile, and every act of kindness.
